Scorpio New Moon; October 27, 2019; 8:38pm PDT
The energy all month has been intense, with the overall sense that something is building. The New Moon occurs at 4º of Scorpio and is directly across from the planet Uranus at 4º of Taurus. Scorpio can give us tremendous strength, focus, and tenacity to achieve a task, so it can serve us well, but it’s also very forceful. A New Moon with this much intensity brings encouragement to release repressed emotions from the past that no longer serve us and to finally be at peace. That may be much easier to say than to do, but that should be our goal as we experience this New Moon fully.
Where the New Moon falls in our chart is where we get a fresh start. It’s the area of life where we can begin new projects, make decisions, and move forward toward our goals. A New Moon at any particular point only occurs every 18/19 years. So, if this New Moon interacts strongly with a particular point in your chart it means that you are beginning a new 18/19-year cycle related to whatever that point means. When a New Moon occurs on or near a birthday, that year begins the new cycle. These are times when it’s very important to pay attention to opportunities that come your way and to energetic ‘pokes’ that are indicating a new path.
With Uranus directly opposite the New Moon there is the potential for sudden shocks or surprises at this time. This is not necessarily a bad thing; it can be quite positive – just expect the unexpected. The purpose of Uranus is to shake things up and bring excitement to places in our lives that have become stagnant. It also is strongly future oriented and can bring innovative ideas and aha moments. Uranus interacting with the strong Scorpio New Moon can also bring hidden information to light, both personally and globally. Sometimes these revelations can catapult us forward in consciousness. We’re in a time of awakening, when we have to let the old paradigms fade away and welcome in the new – Uranus helps us do that.
At the time of the New Moon, Mars is in a challenging aspect to Saturn. Mars is very assertive energy and can push us into impulsive action while Saturn is all about structure, following the rules, and looking carefully before we leap. This is a time when the passion and energy of Mars meets the cautious, conservative energy of Saturn and can make us feel like we’re driving with the brakes on. Saturn says – Are you ready to commit to the long haul and, if not, maybe you shouldn’t opt for the choice you’re considering.
The combination of these two planets can bring a heaviness; the feeling of slogging through wet sand. We may know that a life choice needs to be made, but it can’t be done willy-nilly. Saturn makes us aware that there are long term consequences connected to our actions.
These could be hard choices or easy ones and we may not even be sure we’re making the ‘right’ choice, but it’s a time when we are faced with deciding what we want to commit to, what we want to stay away from, what we’re ready to put energy into, what we need to remove ourselves from. This energy can bring frustration and irritation that things aren’t going the way we want or not going as fast as we want. If you feel that way, it’s time to back off and let things evolve the way they are intended. This energy foreshadows the two weeks after the New Moon. Those weeks will have a serious, cautious feel.
The New Moon is always a time for new starts but we may find that those starts are a bit slower than usual and perhaps slower than we want because of the Mars/Saturn square. The main take away for this New Moon is that it’s important to take our time with decisions right now. Big choices deserve a lot of thought and preparation beforehand.
Just a heads-up that on October 31st, Mercury moves retrograde at 27º Scorpio and stays in that sign until it moves direct on November 20th. This combination encourages us to think deeply. If you have areas of life, or projects that you need to review, revise, or go back over in some way this is the time to do it. You may be able to glean details or insights that you missed before and will also catch any details you overlooked. This is not a good time to launch new endeavors, host a big event, or sign contracts.
Our task as we move toward 2020 is to keep our vibration high. Imagine that your frequency is controlled by an inner radio dial and that you have the ability to turn that dial at any moment. The more we can keep our heads in the right place and distance ourselves from the drama of the world, the faster we will recognize our own personal power and the ability it gives us to create the reality that we want.
