Gemini Full Moon – December 11, 2019; 9:12pm PST

December brings us three big astrological events, including the start of our winter eclipse season. Energetically, it’s a very different month than the previous eleven months. Much of the energy that we will experience in 2020 will start this month. This begins with Jupiter moving into Capricorn on December 2, 2019.

As the largest planet, Jupiter is weighty and powerful. It’s an outer planet which means that its influence lasts longer and its effect is more global. Whenever one of the slower moving planets shifts into a different astrological sign, the energy of the planet transitions from one focus to another and is felt more strongly. In this case, the shift is from Sagittarius, where Jupiter spent the last twelve months, into Capricorn where it will be until December 2020.

Sagittarius is a fire sign. It likes movement. It’s very upward and outward oriented. It’s all about expansion without boundaries. Capricorn is an earth sign and its energy is much slower and more measured. It’s about planning, caution, and consistency. As the large influence of Jupiter shifts into this sign we will notice a change in the overall cosmic pace. During 2019, we’ve all been living life in the fast lane – going like our hair was on fire. Now things will slow down. We are moving into a time that is about quality, not quantity. It’s about choice and being selective, not about doing everything and being all things to all people. Jupiter in Capricorn will help us focus on the structure and form that our plans and dreams need in order to come to fruition. This will be especially beneficial for those with the Sun, Moon, or Ascendant in this sign, but wherever this energy falls in your chart, you can optimize learning, growth, and expansion of your self-confidence.

This shift for Jupiter brings growth and opportunity into the Capricorn part of your life. Jupiter in Capricorn at the best level will encourage us all to engage with a higher path of wisdom and growth, to truly walk our talk. Jupiter is connected to higher goals and to spiritual knowledge, and in Capricorn, we are being asked to make that real.
Jupiter in Capricorn wants to get things done. We will be looking for tangible rewards or solid output related to whatever we are working on. There can be a focus on creating financial security with this energy so you may find that you spend more time thinking about how to structure your time and resources more effectively and how to manage your money with the long-term in mind. There’s a bit of a cautious, conservative, and frugal quality to Jupiter in Capricorn.

The last time Jupiter was in Capricorn was 2008. If you think back to that time and what was happening in your life, you can get a sense of what this energy will be like for you. The events and circumstances won’t be the same because you’ve evolved over the last eleven years, but there will be some similarities in the theme or the feel of the energy. It is possible that certain topics that came up then, will be revisited during 2020.

Venus aligns with the South Node in the sign of Capricorn starting November 30th. This combination brings the ‘Ghosts of Relationships Past’. So, as Venus passes over the South Node, we all have the opportunity to cut ties or to deal with relationship baggage that we don’t need to carry around anymore. There is an energy of endings or closure with this combination. There are always fluctuations in the energy between people and in relationships, but if you feel that you are being taken advantage of, now is the time to release the other person. Don’t be concerned about distancing yourself from a lover or family member that seems to be taking more from you than what you get back in return. This combination of energy changes the way we think about relationships that are in the past and that can make it easier to understand the dynamics of the situation and create healing.

December 3rd Venus will also be interacting with Mars in a fun, energizing, and passionate way. This can be quite beneficial in the dating and romance realm, but it can also be good for getting inspired with a project and moving it forward, particularly if you are working in partnership with others. Venus is in Capricorn and Mars is in Scorpio. These are both very strategic signs, willing to work hard to create something long-lasting. This combination is about forward planning and is a great time to initiate new projects that will have longevity.

The Full moon in Gemini is on Thursday December 11th at 9:12pm PST. This Full Moon sort of defines the busy-ness of the holiday season. It’s strongly social energy and loves to connect with others. It also brings the energy of brainstorming, creation of new ideas, and making new connections that will seed our choices and plans for 2020.
You can have quite a lot of fun with this energy – it’s sparkling, social, and stimulating. This is also great energy for following your curiosity. It can lead you to something that you didn’t realize was your passion. Try new things. If you have an opportunity to mingle or to meet new people, that would be an excellent way to use this energy. It will be a busy time and there is the potential for mental burnout. If you find yourself becoming overwhelmed by it all, just opt out for a while and recharge.

Numerologists point out that this Full Moon is happening on 12/12 at 12:12am on the east coast and beyond and since 12 is a Master power number, this strengthens our potential for evolution at this time. Check in with your guides on this day and make sure you’re on the path that benefits your highest good. As with all major astrological interactions, where this energy falls in your chart is where the largest leaps happen.

On December 8th the Sun squares Neptune and on December 19th Mercury squares Neptune. Squares to Neptune tend to create a blurred quality related to interactions with others. There can be misunderstandings, and it’s a good idea to double check the details of anything that is important. If you can avoid hard schedules or stressful interactions that will be beneficial. These aspects are very short-lived but I recommend that on these dates you don’t sign any important documents or commit to anything. Wait a day or two for the energy to pass, then you’ll see things more clearly. These are good days to chill, meditate, take a long bath, and generally tune into other realms.
With Venus in Capricorn early in the month and Jupiter in Capricorn toward the end of the month the energy is more about quality time spent alone or with loved ones rather than spending money on lavish gifts. The key to shopping this year is practicality so don’t feel badly about spending less. Your loved one would rather have your attention and time than a gift.

The Solstice on December 21st is when the Sun moves into the sign of Capricorn. This will be a very grounding week. Take time to pause, to work on your plan, check your expectations, and be realistic. Use a long-term view. Reflect on the last twelve months and think about the next twelve months. What do you want to do with that time? What do you want to create? We’re moving quickly into 2020 and the strong manifesting energy of the Magician’s Aspect. Try to find time to step out of the craziness of the holidays and think about what you are manifesting.
