Pisces New Moon – February 23, 2020; 7:31 am PST

Welcome to Pisces season! This is a time of heightened sensitivity – even for those who don’t consider themselves to be intuitively aware. With Pisces there’s an ethereal, dreamy quality to life that’s very creative and allows us to access divine inspiration for our art as well as our daily lives. This is very beautiful energy but can be a bit challenging as well. When the boundary between our ego-self and our spiritual-self is blurred we can slip more easily into co-dependent behavior or participate in martyr/victim relationships. We tend to be more idealistic and may frustrate ourselves by trying to help someone who just doesn’t want to be helped. Because we tend to wear ‘rose-colored glasses’ during high Pisces times, this is a challenging time for making important decisions.

During this month and at the time of the New Moon, we have the Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Neptune all in Pisces along with four planets (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto) and the South Node in Capricorn. On the surface these two signs, Pisces and Capricorn, don’t seem to work well together. Pisces asks us to tune into Spirit and live in our soul space and, just like looking through water, it blurs what we see as ‘reality’. Capricorn, on the other hand, is strongly grounded in the material 3rd dimension and demands that we look at our world with clarity using structure and practicality. So, how do we blend these two very different energies into our daily lives?
We do it by recognizing that both ways of being are vital to our existence. The Pisces season is a time to make sure we arrange time in our busy schedules for reflection, for creativity, and for actively connecting with Source through meditation, yoga, or channeling. But it’s equally important to embrace the beauty of our physical existence. We all stood in line to incarnate as humans on Earth. Not a wussy feat and it was the desire for physical sensation that was the driving force. Use this Pisces energy to strengthen your connection with Source but combine it with the strong physicality of Capricorn and use what you intuit in a practical way. This is an excellent time to see an energetic healer, meditate, be creative, and spend time in nature (bare feet on the ground). Indulge yourself in physical sensuality with a massage, make love, bathe in warm and scented water.
Before the New Moon, on Thursday, February 20th, Jupiter in Capricorn makes a lovely aspect to Neptune in Pisces. This is the first of three times these two planets will interact in this way. This energy kicks off the opportunity to fully use our imagination and to create something new, beautiful, and hopeful. It’s also about using structure to make a dream come true. This is not just for this week, but will stay with us throughout 2020. It’s visionary, but we have to pay attention in order to capture the ideas and opportunities that come to us. Besides, heightening our intuition, Jupiter and Neptune together stimulates our idealism and asks us to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Helping others is an important part of our existence on this plane, but we also have to use discernment. This is where the sign opposite Pisces, Virgo, helps us. Virgo brings a practicality that Pisces doesn’t have and reminds us that we can only help someone if they want to be helped. Be aware of circumstances where you are beating your head against the wall.
On Friday, February 21st, we have a nice interaction between Mars and Uranus. This speaks to breakthroughs and productivity. Mars in Capricorn likes to get things done and Uranus is all about freedom, independence, and pushing against learned conditioning. This is about innovation and finding a new way to move forward. It has a bit of an explosive quality so there may be some volatility and chaos connected to the few days surrounding this combination. There might be the sense of a faster pace or that there’s a lot happening at once. Sometimes, it’s important to move quickly so that we move from our intuitive heart space rather than our analytical mind. This is a time to do that. This will be particularly impactful for anyone with planets around 3 degrees of Earth and/or water signs; Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces. Think about how you can do things differently, make life a bit more interesting, and how you can take action and not be stuck in old ways. Break free!
Over the weekend, we have the Sun in Pisces making a wonderful aspect to Uranus in Taurus. This is about identity. It helps us connect to the core of who we are. It’s likely that we’ll all have a breakthrough or revelation about our authentic self. This energy asks us to break free of behaviors and habits that are ingrown. Let’s shake things up and step out of our pigeon hole. Don’t just say you’re going to do something different, dare to do it! This is a time when you can begin to evolve into the new you. This combination of the Sun and Uranus happens during the Balsamic Moon time which is when the veil between Spirit and the 3rd dimension is the thinnest. It’s perfect for manifesting desires, so use this time for setting or strengthening your intentions. Challenge yourself to reach for something far bigger than what you’ve done in the past.
The Sun/Uranus aspect takes us to the Pisces New Moon on February 23rd at 7:31 am PST. Each New Moon is a new beginning and at 4 degrees of Pisces, this New Moon gives us a soft and gentle reset. It asks us to tune into our intuition for life answers. Don’t rely on external input to guide you forward. Mercury and Neptune will be nearby so we can expect to receive a lot of inspiration, compassion, emotion, and messages – directly or through dreams. It’s not a logical New Moon, it’s more about intuiting what your next steps should be. Where this energy falls in your chart shows in what area of life you have the most power for initiating actions and manifesting your desires, especially those of a spiritual nature. But this also applies to the practical because all things earthly begin their creation in the ether. Use the Pisces New Moon to draw your desires to you. Be open and allow the Universe to grant your wishes.
At the time of the New Moon, Venus in Aries interacts with Jupiter in Capricorn in such a way that we may over-indulge or over-spend. There’s the potential to overdo things like giving gifts or showing affection. It’s wonderful and beautiful to give to others, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, but this energy reminds us that gifts need to be reasonable. Sadly, there are people in life who are takers, who are never satisfied with what they get from us. If there is someone in your life who you have been trying to help, but they just don’t seem to make any progress or appreciate all that you do for them, it may be time to release that relationship. It’s time to think about how you give to those you love.
The last week of the month brings some unusual energy when Mercury and Mars make aspects to the South Node. You may find that you’re drawn to things that are unusual or that you have a heightened awareness of all things woo-woo. This can also bring some low energy, lack of motivation, or even a changing sense of what you want to do long-term. Don’t be too rigid with yourself this week. Mars connecting to the South Node is a releasing type of energy so there is an emptying out quality to it. There could be instances of misdirected energy where you pour yourself into a project that doesn’t ever go anywhere. That can be frustrating, but it’s also a learning experience so try to focus on that aspect of the situation. Try to be mindful of what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.
Mercury is retrograde until March 9th and if you have any planets or chart points between zero and 12 degrees of Pisces, it’s likely you will really feel this energy. If you have the desire to dive deeply into the pool of spirituality, do it! But, be sure to pay attention to the ‘downloads’ that come to you. They are valid and the Universe is asking you to explore whatever has been presented. This energy blurs the boundary between self and Spirit which can muddle the mind. Accept that, take time to daydream and don’t sign any important documents unless there is absolutely no other choice.
The energy of March will be very different – much more dynamic – so use this time to make the most of the ethereal energy and really get in touch with your inner-self.
