New Moon in Taurus; April 22, 2020; 7:26 pm PDT
Welcome to Taurus season! The Sun moves into this Earthly sign on April 19th. In the ‘olden days’ of my youth there was an advertisement for a shampoo (I think Herbal Essence) that had the tag line, ‘Welcome to the Garden of Earthly Delights’. That describes Taurus and the energy it brings extremely well. During this time our souls crave physical sensation. It’s the time of year to move our bodies – preferably outdoors. Connect with the Earth and/or plants; embrace pleasure, creativity, beauty, sensuality, and the abundance of nature. We need to put down our devices, go outside and stand barefoot on Mother Earth. Let the negative ions produced by her giant electro-magnetic body flush out the impurities in our blood and recharge us. There can be rapid and significant health benefits resulting from this simple practice. After all, we have our own electro-magnetic energy field and sometimes it gets out of kilter. Being in nature brings us into a blissful reset. This isn’t woo-woo. There’s scientific data supporting the positive changes that occur within our physical body when we are in physical contact with nature and the Earth. Google ‘earthing’ or ‘groundology’ for more information.
Taurus also represents our values, so this is a time to really get in touch with what is deeply meaningful in our lives. We are weaving our future into being every moment and with every thought and act. Whatever energy/emotion/vibration we broadcast; we attract a frequency match to that. I know it sounds like a cliché and some will roll their eyes but thoughts are things, energy does follow attention, and what we think about does grow. We know it and have seen it happen, positively and not so positively. Understandably, there’s a lot of fear and uncertainty being projected and that makes it even more important that we be conscious of where our thoughts are and how we are handling this new situation. Take this time in Taurus to go to your own ‘Garden of Earthly Delights’, physically or in your mind, tap into the wonderful stillness of the Earth. She has a divine intelligence that supports our wellbeing and immersed in her influence our heads naturally align with the positive. In this state we can live from our heart chakra and beam out love to nature, to each other, and to ourselves. That raises our vibration and that of the collective and with a higher vibration we can toss out a optimistic lasso and pull experiences to us that make our future better.
The New Moon occurs at 7:26 pm PDT on April 22nd at 3 degrees Taurus. This is an important degree of the Zodiac and brings us the best of this sign. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is ‘Steps up to a lawn blooming in clover’ symbolizing the abundance that we can manifest in our lives. Every New Moon is like a reset. It brings a new beginning and a chance to initiate something or to start over. In Taurus, the New Moon is a call to stabilize ourselves and our lives; to ground ourselves, to be outside, to nurture our bodies with proper food, and maybe even experience a bit of pampering. Is there an art project you’ve been putting off? A fantastic money-making idea that’s been gestating? A piece of ground in your backyard waiting to be sown? Now is the time to initiate the action. You don’t have to know all the steps; all the answers, just get started!
Accompanying the New Moon is the electrifying energy of Uranus. Brilliant ‘downloads’ are part of its impact. Pay attention to the ‘aha’ moments and grab them. They may not be for now, but stash them away for later.
This New Moon, along with Uranus, are in a challenging aspect to Saturn and that highlights the building Saturn/Uranus square. With Uranus in Taurus; which rules finance, the banking system, and the economy, we may experience financial shocks and/or a contraction at this time. The Saturn/Uranus square moves closer together as we near the end of 2020 and will be with us most of 2021, but this New Moon can give us a preview of what to expect next year.
Pay attention to events, topics, and experiences April 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. These things show us the areas of life where we can create change and freedom. It also shows where some of our most authentic choices lie. It can be unpredictable energy, so stay flexible and be prepared for unexpected situations. Uranus always asks us for change and with Uranus in Taurus these changes likely pertain to our bodies, food, diet, exercise, and the reduction of toxins in our lives. Maybe this is a time when we can all be a bit more grounded, perhaps consider growing some of our own food or herbs, doing something that connects us more strongly to the Earth and the natural changes of the seasons. It’s the idea of changing our relationship to food and where it comes from. Ask yourself questions about what you can do differently, particularly around food and how you care for your physical body. Taurus does slow things down and is a cautious energy, but also stabilizing. We move one step at a time when the Sun is in Taurus and that energy supports us well as the world slowly begins to reopen and we are granted more freedom.
Since Uranus does represent freedom this is a perfect time to consider where you may be confining yourself, apart from enforced restrictions. This energy asks us to be who we really are and not hide behind facades created by conditioning. It’s a bit rebellious.
April 25th, Pluto stations retrograde at 24 degrees Capricorn and makes a strong aspect to Mercury in Aquarius. When planets, especially slow-moving planets, stop their forward motion, we tend to turn inward in relation to the energy that the planet represents. Pluto is strongly anchored in power so we will all have the opportunity to consider what the ‘right’ use of power looks like. Our task will be to stay flexible when circumstances arise that point out whether we feel empowered in our lives or have given our power away.
During this time, you may get some information about something that you are dealing with in your life, or something deep within you insists on being revealed. There can also be a revelation with information that has been suppressed or hidden coming into the light. There is an investigative quality to this energy, so we may have the inclination to dig into the dirt and nitty gritty to get authentic answers.
On April 26th the Sun conjuncts Uranus at 6 degrees Taurus. This brings a feeling of excitement and newness. It’s enthusiastic and encourages us to try something different. We’re being asked to shake things up in our lives, to step outside the box and think differently. This challenges us to break routines, or change habits. Because Uranus is strongly linked to technology, you may become aware of new ways to use current technology in your life and work. During this time, we may feel a bit uneasy because we’re being pushed out of our comfort zone and it’s all happening quickly. It’s an awakening and a call to celebrate our individuality and how we each add uniqueness to the world. Dare to be who you are and don’t conform or bow to tradition. Embrace the new.
