Full Blue Moon in Taurus – October 31, 2020; 7:49 am PDT
We have a big aspect on October 18th when the Sun clashes with Saturn. This brings up the conflict between personal growth and authority. In 2020, as a part of the on-going cycle of Saturn in Capricorn, we’ve all come to understand at a deeper level the power of government and bureaucracy and how it affects us personally. This aspect will further our awareness and we may see some tension or friction occurring between the Powers That Be and the populous. This can also manifest as a situation of something you want to do for yourself conflicting with obligations/duties that you have toward others. It’s what you want to do vs what you have to do.
The best way to navigate this energy is to be very clear on your boundaries and what you can and can’t do. The Sun in Libra wants to keep everyone happy. It will tend to compromise in order to ensure harmony and avoid confrontation. Saturn expects us to follow through with our commitments. So, during this time, be very cautious about what you commit to. Focus on one or two things that you can do well or only commit to what you know you can accomplish in the allotted time. Try not to over-promise, over-schedule, or overdo.
Sun/Saturn aspects can also stir up issues connected to identity. It’s possible that with this energy you find that the ‘old you’ made a plan or committed to something that the ‘present day you’ no longer has an interest in. This energy is very clarifying and as a result of that you may have to have some challenging conversations about who you are now and what you’re willing to do.
Also on October 18th, Venus opposes Neptune. This energy is great for taking the day off, for resting, contemplating, and spending time in nature. It’s quite different from the Sun/Saturn energy we are also experiencing on the same day. Two very different vibes; Saturn/Sun = work, duty, effort. Venus/Neptune = rest, relaxation, escape, daydreaming, creativity. Whenever we have these types of competing astrological tones, we naturally gravitate toward one or the other based on the predominant energy in our birth chart. No worries, go in the direction that resonates with you.
One caveat connected to this Venus/Neptune energy. It is very idealistic and will securely plant your rose-colored glasses onto your face. It can bring romantic musings along with the inclination to rescue others. That’s a beautiful thing, but this energy also muddies the waters and makes it difficult to see a situation clearly. If you find yourself caught up in the starring role of a romantic fantasy, wait a few days before you commit to anything. You may still go forward with it, or you may realize that it’s not what you originally thought it would be and save yourself a lot of heartache.
October 19th is a very busy day astrologically. We have three aspects beginning with a combination of Mars and Jupiter. This is wonderful energy for looking at the big picture and planning for the future. You may not be able to see all of the details or create the perfect plan, but there is a sense of hope and clarification of the different paths or options that are available to you.
However, with a Mars/Jupiter combination there is also the tendency to overestimate our capabilities. This can manifest in one of two ways. Some will say yes to everything, be full of motivation, power through and get a huge amount done. Others will think they can do it all, get part way through their task list and realize they have massively over-committed themselves. It’s wonderful to shoot for the mile-high targets, but with this energy it’s a good idea to think before committing. Find a balanced way to use the energy that this combination represents. This is the second of three times that Mars and Jupiter interact like this. The first happened during the first ten days of August, so you may be revisiting events, plans, or ideas that first came to you then.
On the same day we have one of the best aspects of the month; Venus trine Jupiter. This is a very supportive and lucky energy. This can be a day when help arrives or you may be blessed with an abundance windfall. It may be a good day to say yes to something that is offered to you if it resonates. It can also be very beneficial for relationships, both personal and business.
The final aspect of the day is retrograde Mercury opposite Uranus. This aspect previously occurred on October 7th but Mercury was moving direct then. With Mercury retrograde combining with Uranus, we may experience a bit more chaos with the potential of wires getting crossed. Flexibility is the key word for this combination. Be willing to go with the flow, respond spontaneously, and look at plan changes as a way to learn or do something new. Uranus is strongly intuitive so what gets put in your path will likely be something that the Universe has planned for you. There can be aha moments, a breakthrough, or a shift in perspective that helps you understand what’s truly going on in a situation. This energy can produce very healing and therapeutic conversations.
With the energies happening on this day, you may get a fresh perspective about a past event or the need to go back over something from the past because you now have missing information or you see something differently. There is the sense of two steps forward and one step back, but the step back is extremely important and enlightening to a situation where you have felt confused.
October 21st Venus interacts with Pluto in a way that brings depth and intensity. There can be a compelling force that draws you to a situation, a project, or a person. This is a trine aspect so the coming together of these to planets is easy and smooth. From a relationship perspective, this energy is about understanding that truth and honesty can bring about greater trust and intimacy. There may be a revelation of some kind or something that has been hidden is revealed. Don’t be afraid to ask very specific questions of your partners, both business and personal, because the answers will be the key to collaboration and moving forward.
On October 22nd the Sun moves into Scorpio and that will produce a big mood shift and change in tone. The Sun in Libra has been very challenged and that produced a lot of pressure over the last month. With the transit into Scorpio we should all have a chance to settle and catch our breath. While Scorpio, ruled by Pluto, is a rather intense sign, it’s also a fixed sign which makes its energy less reactive to stimuli. It’s more stable and introspective.
Scorpio season is a time to go within, to look at the nitty-gritty part of ourselves, and confront or sort through the shadow aspects of ourselves and others. We can also use the energy to get more grounded and secure with our place in the world. We are able to determine who and what is trust-worthy and who we should stay away from. This energy will take us through to November and will assist us during the completion of the Mercury and Mars retrograde phases.
October 24th Venus interacts with Saturn to bring a stabilizing energy. This combination is about alliances and coming together in a common goal for the future. There is a willingness to work together in a practical way. This is a good time to draw your loved ones together, to the extent that you feel comfortable doing that.
The next day we have Mercury retrograde combining with the Sun in a condition known as Cazimi. This is an elevating condition for any planet, so the energy of Mercury will be purified and heightened in the fires of the Sun. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio can manifest as deep churning, ruminating, and picking over circumstances from the past. Mercury in Cazimi helps us drop these negative thought patterns and mental loops. It can also help us let go of communication methods that diminish our power. Mercury in this position is infused with new ideas and gets a cosmic reset. Use this energy to clear your mind, to let go of things that have been bugging you, and turn your attention to abundance and positivity. Journal writing can be a wonderful way to capture new ideas and downloads that come to you.
October 27th Venus and Mercury both move into the sign of Libra.
For Venus, this is an excellent position. We can now tap into strong diplomatic energy to use in interacting with others, personally and professionally. During this time, she will also interact with Mars which will jazz up our love life. A great perk of the energy!
Mercury in Libra also becomes focused on diplomacy, negotiation, and fairness. This energy is all about dealing with the fallout from the week of September 20th to September 27th, topics or events of that week will be revisited for resolution or clarification. You may be thinking about your own life and the balance in it. This is the perfect time to have thoughtful and considerate conversation.
October 31 at 7:49 am PDT, we have a Full Blue Moon in Taurus exactly conjunct Uranus. The Taurus Full Moon is very down-to-Earth, sensual energy, and tends to make us desire luxuries and to spoil ourselves. However, the Full Moon is also about closure or culmination and often things are revealed that facilitate these endings. With Uranus so tightly involved with this lunation, it’s quite likely that something very surprising could happen or be revealed. Imagine the symbolism of an earthquake or a lightning bolt that delivers something out of the blue. Uranus brings downloads and aha moments so this lunation can be a time of revelation when we really GET IT!
The Full Moon combining with Uranus spotlights things that are unconventional, on the fringes of society, and that break with tradition. This planet is all about freedom and the right to live as we choose without the constraints of conditioning or external restriction. Now is the time to make choices that are authentic and reflective of who you are, that increase freedom in your life. In order to do that you may have to release something that no longer serves or is holding you back.
Take the time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life and give gratitude for living here on Earth where we can enjoy being physical beings, but also be prepared for surprises, stay flexible, and understand the difference between reacting and responding.
When we react to a situation, we do so without thinking. We are triggered and act unconsciously, usually with negative results. When we respond, we pause and engage with mindful awareness. We acknowledge our feelings, take deep breaths, count to ten, and do whatever is necessary to give ourselves space before diving in. Understanding this distinction will serve us all well as we move into the next few weeks.
